Fighting for The Manning Valley NSW
Our Story
The Manning Against Mining Alliance Inc. is a non-political community organisation that is committed to protecting the Manning Valley, its waterways, land, eco-systems and cultural sites from inappropriate mining. Our story began when a small group of local residents discovered that MCi Carbon had begun exploring our communities—Mount George, Wherrol Flat, and Mooral Creek—for mining without appropriate community consultation.
In response to this threat, a town hall event at Wingham was organised by a handful of concerned community members in March 2025. Over 450+ people gathered to voice their concerns and stand united against the proposed mining explorations. At the meeting, a geologist explained the high probability that white asbestos was present in the proposed mining areas and emphasized the inevitable chemical and mineral leaching that would occur—polluting our rivers, drinking water & ecosystems.
The urgency of the situation led us to formally establish the Manning Against Mining Alliance Inc. We lodged our application for incorporation that same month, determined to give our community a voice and to protect our land, water, animals and way of life. We became an officially incorporated not-for-profit organisation on the 26th March 2025.
We are committed to working together as a community to safeguard our valley and preserve it for future generations. Our fight is about protecting the health of our families, the vitality of our farms, the homes of our wildlife (including endangered species) and the integrity of our precious environment & it's waterways. Together, we can make a difference and ensure that the Manning Valley remains a thriving, healthy place to live for all.
