Mining can pollute our waterways, contaminate our drinking water, destroy our wildlife and ruin family farms that provide food for our region

The Mining Exploration Map

The map below shows the areas of current proposed mining exploration. Exploration areas of mining include - Mt George, Wherrol Flat, Bobin & Mooral Creek. Whilst it directly encompasses 4 areas, the proposed mining will impact all communities connecting to the Manning Valley River including Hallidays Point, Old bar, Wingham, Taree & Forster-Tuncurry.

The orange outlined shapes represent areas of exploration that could be turned into an open cut strip mine, not unlike the devastation in the Hunter Valley, and that is just the beginning, it won't stop there.

As you can see, this area crosses many waterways that directly flow into the Manning River including the manning river itself. There are many family farms that provide food to our region directly in this mining zone as well as endangered species such as the Manning River Helmeted Turtle and locally endangered Platypus to name a few.

This is serious! It represents one of the greatest threats of our community in our time. This is why we need to take action now and prevent the mine from ever gaining traction and destroying our community. We need your help, we need your voice and we need to say NO MINING IN THE MANNING VALLEY and NO TO MCI CARBON, ORICA & their international financial backers!
